I'm back (kind of)!

I have finally, finally managed to restore my blogger password! That's why it's been a year (a year!), since I've updated this blog. Well, to be honest, it's also because I unfortunately suffered a temporary loss of interest in the world of blood sucking creatures. Sorry. BUT I never lost interest in the Twilight fandom; there are so many great people out there to get to know and so many hilarious conversations to be part of, stories to read, blogs to stalk and Roblicousness to consume, that I simply couldn't stay away for too long. So I only took a break from blogging, and I think I needed that.. It was becoming too much with the paparazzi like blogging obsession (new pics, new interviews, new premiers and omg-Kristen-changed-her-hair-color! Again!) that I simply didn't have it in me continue being a committed blogger anymore.

Anyway, I'm back now, if you ever did miss me (I bet you didn't), and I'll do the occasional update when I feel like it. For up to date info on everything that's going on in the Twi-verse I suggest you follow TwiCrackAddict's blog or check in on how Rob's doing (or just swoon a little over all the pretty pictures) over at Robsessed. And then, if you want the occasional snarky comments and random ranting about Robward's shirtless awesomeness, Kristen's somewhat lacking acting skills, or the cuteness of these two kissing in a cab (I'm looking at you, paparazzi pics) you can continue to follow me. I no longer promise to be politically correct, but I do promise to do my best at making you laugh, smile, or roll your eyes. That's it for now, but I'll come back when I have something interesting to share with you all.

Did I mention New Moon is f***ing AMAZING?

Because it is!

I went to see New Moon today convinced they would be sold out, BUT I managed to get a ticket for an early screening at 3 pm!! The actual premiere tonight was, of course, sold out, but hell, I got a freaking ticket!

Okay, so let's get to the exciting part; the movie! (Yes, I know, I'm probably going to use an exclamation mark at the end of every sentence in this post, but really, can you blame me? If you've watched New Moon the obvious answer to that is: no.) So, New Moon rocks. It was waaay better than what I expected it to be (and yes of course, I had already seen all the trailers a hundred times). I laughed, I cried (yes, really.) and it was just... great. When did I cry? Throughout the whole Bella-in-the-woods scene plus the October-November-December-January part. It's just sad.

I won't do a full review or anything on the whole movie, this is just me rambling, so if you wanna know all the details; go see it! Now! But here's what I can say (please do not continue reading if you don't want to be spoiled! Please):

* Everything about there being twice as much action in the movie than in the book is true. Most of the film sequences are fast and there are several action/fight scenes in there.

* The script and the plot is very true to the book, which is great. Although there is, just like there was in Twilight, some humor and funny lines that were not in the book (most of them are laugh-out-loud funny).

* Although it does look like it in all the pictures/screen caps we've seen so far, Bella and Jacob does not actually kiss in New Moon. Thank God. * There is no more tree jumping or spidermonkey-ing.

* They've managed to put several scenes from Twilight in there, as flashbacks. Awesome.

* The soundtrack is amazing, throughout the whole movie. Although I gotta say, "A White Demon Love Song" by the Killers at the end credits is by far my favorite. If you haven't heard it, go buy/download it now or listen to it on youtube.

* Taylor is amazingly talented, and plays the perfect Jacob.
* We get a short glimpse of Bella, through Alice's visions, as a vampire! [Insert major squee here]

Then, even though you might not agree with me, I have to point out a few things that I believe could have been done differently. Should have been done differently.

* Their eyes. I mean, please, for the love of Edward, we can send people to the moon but we can't find a decent pair of contact lenses? Come on. And whoever is responsible for Robert's make-up, stop with the lipstick already! This is not a Maybelline commercial. (Although I do believe the make up job was far better here than in Twilight.) Oh, and while we're at it, Nikki's wig is awful. It just is.

* Somehow, the cliff diving scene was just not as sad as I expected it to be. Maybe with different music...

* There's a major cliffhanger at the end.. And I mean MAJOR. But yeah, just let us suffer for another seven months, why don't you?

So there ya go, that's my opinion! If I'm going to go watch it again? Hell yeah.

On August 4th, Breaking Dawn will be re-released as a special hardcover edition with lots of extras:

According to Borders.com, the book includes a replica of the handwritten lyrics for Blue October’s “My Never” — a song that screams "Twilight" — and a "Breaking Dawn" Concert Series DVD. The special edition book also comes with a full-color Edward and Bella poster.
You can order the new version of Breaking Dawn now for $16.49 which includes all these goodies.

The publisher will be doing only one print run of this edition, with 1 Million copies.

HitFix has another interview in their series of New Moon articles. They interviewed Melissa Rosenberg, the screenwriter of the Twilight saga movies, on the set of New Moon in May. Here's an excerpt:

Q: Does writing the sequels present a whole different set of challenges than writing the ‘Twilight’ script?

Yeah, because in ‘Twilight’ you’re setting up the world. You’re introducing the world and you’re introducing characters and I was also writing in a vacuum because I didn’t know who the actors were going to be. Now, you’re going to ‘New Moon’ and ‘Eclipse,’ I could write [the characters] in my mind so it becomes a more comfortable world, you know? So, ‘New Moon’ is not about setting up the world, but it’s about it’s own set of challenges because ‘New Moon’ is very internal. I mean all of those…there’s a lot of talk about how Edward and the Cullen’s are not a part of whole middle of ‘New Moon’ but actually they really are. Certainly Bella’s very much alive in…I’m sorry Edward’s very much alive in Bella’s mind throughout ‘New Moon.’ As a reader you feel his presence. You feel that helping drive that story. Harder to do in film, you know? You have to somehow find his presence and bring it there without having thought bubbles constantly. And I think the solution is going to satisfy fans. It’s going to be very much in keeping with the book and the tone of the book. So I think it would be interesting to see how I think fans will be feel pretty satisfied with what we’re doing. One, because it’s true to the book and two because we see more Edward. So that can’t be bad.

While Peter Facinelli's Twilight character Carlisle Cullen is a big softie, the actor himself has no qualms in expressing his jealousy over Robert Pattinson's Edward.
"Couldn't I fly or something as well?" Facinelli complained.

"It's not like I can go into the Volturi lair and smote them with my compassion all, 'I am the most compassionate vampire in the world and am going to compassionize the hell out of you!'"

Dreadcentral.com has a new interview with Justine Wachsberger, who plays Gianna (the Volturi's human secretary who hopes to be turned into a vampire) in New Moon. Excerpt:

“I actually liked the books but wasn’t a crazy fan of Twilight when I got the role of Gianna,” explained Wachsberger. “I just knew though that I would be lucky to be part of such a huge franchise because I know what these stories mean to the fans.”

Wachsberger added, “Gianna was a really interesting character to portray for me. She’s human and has a lot going for her but decides to work for the vampires. You don’t really know much about her motivations and that adds a lot of mystery to her, which I really loved.”

Robert's modeling career only lasted for a couple of years, though. In December 2008, Rob explained:

"When I first started I was quite tall and looked like a girl, so I got lots of jobs, because it was during that period where the androgynous look was cool. Then, I guess, I became too much of a guy, so I never got any more jobs. I had the most unsuccessful modeling career.” [Source]

I don't know how 'official' this is, but FMQB says in an article that Death Cab for Cutie, one of Stephenie Meyer's favorite bands, will be featured on the New Moon soundtrack:

Death Cab For Cutie will contribute a brand new song to the soundtrack to the upcoming film Twilight: New Moon. The track will arrive in August, while the soundtrack itself will be out later this year. Twilight: New Moon will land in theaters on November 20.

Q. How come you're not wearing your vampire red contacts right now?
Campbell Bower: They hurt. They don't hurt so much as make me feel a bit sick because my peripheral vision is very much impaired when I have them in.

Q. How would you describe Caius' look?
Campbell Bower: I had a discussion with (costume designer) Tish (Monaghan), and we figured out that Caius probably doesn't get to go out that much, so… he just steals his clothes from previous victims. The style is nice and smart and sleek and slim and – yeah, I like it. It's very Italian, and I like the shoes, particularly.

HitFix's New Moon Set Visit Part 1 & 2

Excerpt from day 2 (SPOILERS!!):

The first shot we witness this morning finds Pattinson on camera in a long brown robe with tan accents on his sleeve. He races to the camera, looks up, braces in pain and then falls to the floor. The second take he has more agony in his voice as he falls and we can hear director Chris Weitz saying, "Much, much better." The third attempt finds the camera panning back to reveal Bell at his side before he lunges toward what must be one of the Volturi (Jane we later discover) and falling to the ground.

After a few minutes, they change the angle of the camera and we see Jane -- in the same scene -- inflicting pain on Edward. Yes, she's the cause and she does it with little gesturing and without speaking a word. A powerful vampire indeed.

The production has a lot to get through today, so the shot then changes to a close up on Bella who is being held by Alec stopping her from racing to Edward's side.

"Please stop," Stewart says, "Don't hurt him."

At first, during rehearsal as the camera operator sets up the shot, Stewart says the lines comically with deadpan effect causing some snickers from the crew. But when the take is ready for real, she says it with the expected dramatic resolve. The coverage also expands to find Alice Cullen (Ashley Greene) being allowed to race to Edward's side. She gesture's that he's "OK."

Band of Skulls on New Moon Soundtrack

In a recent interview with the LA Times, director Chris Weitz revealed some of the bands that will be on the New Moon soundtrack! Check this out:

Driving home from a day of post-production, Weitz says he understands what's at stake. There are 450 visual effects shots to complete, in addition to the score and the movie's soundtrack, which he says will feature songs from Radiohead, Muse and Band of Skulls, among others. But the sequences he's readying for the event -- one, an action scene that will feature some of those effects, the other, a love scene sure to elicit hysteria from the crowd -- will be done in time.

This is great news. Both Muse and Radiohead are awesome, and as we all know they were both featured on the soundtrack of Twilight as well (Muse with Supermassive Black Hole and Radiohead with 15 Step). Band of Skulls though, I've never heard of. But it's great with some new bands and music as well though, and from what I've listened to so far (which is like, one song, but still) I think they sound pretty good. MMV Music Monday: Summer Playlist

MMV Music what? In addition to my Weekly Vampire Fashion posts, I'm going to post an MMV Music Monday post every Monday. Why? Because music is like a drug to me. I heart music so much, you have no idea. In fact, I ♥ music almost as much as I ♥ Edward. Almost.

Anyway, I want to share my music obsession with you guys, so each Monday, I'll give you a playlist to listen to, a music video, Twilight soundtrack playlists or news, or anything else Twi-music related. See, I will keep this Twilight related, somehow, I promise (or, at least I promise I'll try). That said, I now present to you: MMV's Summer Playlist! I didn't put too much thought into this playlist though, so the songs are kind of random. I just picked those songs who reminded me the most of summer, sun, love and.. well, that's pretty much it. How is it Twilight related? All of these bands, and I mean all of them, are on Stephenie Meyer's playlists for the Twilight saga books at her official website, including Muse, Death Cab for Cutie, Jack's Mannequin, the All-American Rejects, the Killers, Ok Go and Plain White T's. Twilight fans have devoured the books, flocked to the movie, and snapped up the DVD. So why not a graphic novel? The publishhers behind Stephenie Meyer’s smash teen vampire series are preparing two volumes drawn by Korean artist Young Kim and heavily edited by Meyer. “For years I’ve had many fans ask me if there will be a graphic-novel version of Twilight,” Meyer said in a statement. “I know they’ll be just as thrilled as I am for this new interpretation.” The graphic novel is essentially Meyer’s brain on paper. “Stephenie is reviewing every page, every panel,” says Kurt Hassler, publishing director for Yen Press, an imprint of Hachette Book Group. “People should feel like they are getting a rare glimpse inside her vision of the property.”

Xavier Samuel: Twilight’s Newest Star For ‘Eclipse’

Don't even ask me how I missed this news three days ago, but better late than never, right? So, the big news is: Xavier Samuel (that guy on the picture there) has been cast as Riley for Eclipse! It's always exciting with casting news. From The Daily Telegraph:

Little known young Australian actor Xavier Samuel has been plucked from nowhere to be positioned as the next Hollywood heart-throb after landing a major role in the third of the Twilight film series, Eclipse.

The 25-year-old Adelaide-born and Sydney-based actor's career has so far focused on small and independent Australian films.
"I'm in a bit of a daze but it's a wonderful bit of news," Samuel exclusively told Confidential from Los Angeles last night.
In Eclipse he takes on the role of a newborn vampire named Riley, a good-looking university student involved in a plot to kill Stewart's character Bella.
Samuel is still getting his head around the Twilight phenomenon.
"I managed to catch the film on the way over on the plane," he said. He admitted he's not read any of the best-selling books of the series - yet.

You’ve all read the books so I mean that’ll be a challenge. That’s really more of a challenge of just kind of doing it in a way where people aren’t going to walk out of the theatre because you don’t want to see that much.

How was writing New Moon different from Twilight?
Melissa Rosenberg: In Twilight, you’re setting up the world. You’re introducing the world, and I was also writing in a vacuum because I didn’t know who the actors were going to be. Now you’re going to New Moon and Eclipse, and I could write specifically to them in my mind. So it becomes a more comfortable world.

New Moon is not about setting up the world, but it’s its own set of challenges because New Moon is very internal ... There’s been a lot of talk about how Edward and the Cullens are not a part of the middle of New Moon, but actually they are. Certainly Edward is very much alive in Bella’s mind throughout New Moon ... I think fans will be very satisfied with what we’re doing — one, because it’s true to the book and two, because there’s more Edward. That can’t be bad!

What went into your audition? Was there more than one?
Jamie Campell Bower: It was one day. I originally auditioned for the role of Demetri. I went in, did a taping. Chris wasn’t there. Then they called me back at like 2:00. Chris turned up; I met Chris. A week later I get a call like, "So, you’re not going to get Demetri, but we’re going to offer you Caius." I was like, "That’s cool!" I’m just psyched to be a part of it. It’s awesome.

On New Moon's underwater action:
Rachelle Lefevre: I spent six hours in a pool doing the underwater stuff. They did a really interesting thing where they did this amazing stunt with the bit where Bella gets caught in the tidal wave … I think it must have been 2,000 gallons of water in massive -- they looked like huge, rectangular cargo containers you put on the back of trains.

First, they did it with a stunt double, and then they did it with Kristen’s photo double, and then they literally, on action, pulled the hatch and she got pummeled with a massive tidal wave and you could watch underwater, which I did because I was in the pool, or you could watch in the monitor. You could literally see her spinning, they created a tidal wave, and they literally filmed until she got spit out. And when it spit her out, the cut was over.

Q: Just to follow that up, can you tell us how far along you are to completion right now?

I am about two weeks away from showing the director's cut to the studio. I've got some wolves with fur. Some wolves are still invisible basically and some wolves are like -- you've all probably seen the claymation versions. We are still in the light RD phases of what Edward looks like when he's hit -- what the vampires look like when he's hit with light and the diamond effect. Also, the kind of hallucinatory effect Bella has when she hears Edward's voice and she imagines him there. And then we are Alexandre Desplat has just started working on his music for the film. And we are just starting to put together what acts will be on the soundtrack, so it's kind of like keeping ten plates spinning at once, but it's all good because we've got Alexander Desplat who I think is one of the greatest film composers living and because of the kind of the strength of the franchise that I inherited, a lot of bands are really interested in working on the soundtrack and we got visual effects people. And that just leaves me hopefully not dropping the ball in terms of editing together the story.

Q: Can you tell us about the proposal scene at the end of the book? Fans are worried that it's either been altered or cut out of the film. Can you address those concerns?

They haven't been cut out. I can tell you that much. It's not going to hit them the exact way they think it's going to, but I will say -- how can I put it? It's going to be quite special. I could have saved all of my gusto for that moment. I don't think it will disappoint.

LA Times On the Set of New Moon + New Movie Still

Los Angeles Times recently posted a short article with more details on the filming of New Moon:

Reporting from Vancouver, Canada -- Robert Pattinson is having an Obi-Wan Kenobi moment. Inside a soundstage where "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" is shooting, the lanky English heartthrob stands in front of a tall, wide green screen murmuring a tender admonition, "You promised me nothing reckless." Motion capture cameras hurtle toward him across a length of track affixed to the stage floor, while a team of technicians studies his stance and the tilt of his head.

The plan is to digitally insert Pattinson, who plays swoony good guy vampire Edward Cullen, into a scene that was filmed much earlier -- one in which he appears as a spectral vision to his costar, Kristen Stewart, cautioning her headstrong character, Bella Swan, against hanging out with some unsavory-looking biker types. For the effect to work, Pattinson's image will need to be dropped in at exactly the right position, so despite the cast and crew nearing the end of a very long early May day, perfectionism is still the standard.

I know I've said this a thousand times already, but I can't wait for New Moon! I have a feeling it might be even better than Twilight.

MARTIN: So what’s in store for Jacob [in New Moon]?
LAUTNER: He’s a lot different than he was before. He transforms mid-story—in the first half, he’s Twilight Jacob. I’m wearing a wig. My character’s very clumsy, outgoing, and friendly. When he transforms into a werewolf, he becomes something very different. It’s like I’m playing a split personality. Which is tricky, because sometimes I’ve had to play pre- and post-transformation Jacob on the same day of filming.
MARTIN: What does it mean to turn into a werewolf?

LAUTNER: I think the most important thing with Jacob is that pre-transformation, he’s clumsy. He trips over his own feet. As soon as he transforms, he’s very agile. At one point, he flings himself through Bella’s window and lands at her feet, and that’s the first time Bella realizes this is a new Jacob: He never used to be this agile. I loved bringing out that side of him. The bummer is, when he becomes a wolf, that’s not actually me. When he does the cool fight scenes, he’s transformed into CGI.

MARTIN: You had to bulk up for the part.

LAUTNER: Absolutely. As soon as I finished filming Twilight, I knew I had to get to work right away; there could be no waiting involved. The day I finished Twilight, I came home and started bulking up. For New Moon, I’m 30 pounds heavier than I was in Twilight.

This spring I had the chance to run with the wolves again in New Moon, which was a blast! This time, all the wolves were there, which brought the energy on the set to a whole new level. Long days, long nights, hard work, and cold temperatures made it a challenging movie to film. It’s a good thing werewolves are warm; it was awfully cold out there without their shirts! Have you ever noticed that there's rarely any juicy gossip at this blog? Yeah, well, there's a reason for that: it's all bull, that's why. I think we've all heard it from somewhere or someone by now; Rob and Kristen are, according to an Australian gossip magazine, expecting baby Robsten. Right. Well, Kristen's on-screen Dad, Billy Burke, told us the real truth about the pregnancy rumors in a recent interview with E!Onlin e. Here's what he had to say:

So Kristen was reportedly pregnant, which we cleared up and showed to be totally false.
Rob is probably pregnant with my child. It’s funny no one picked up on me and Rob’s affair.

Finally, that's all cleared up! It's good to have it all out in the open. I am a little disappointed though, I gotta say. From what I've heard, Breaking Dawn is rumored (nothing is confirmed) to start filming not long after Eclipse is wrapped up, so then the whole how-do-we-get-Kristella-to-look-pregnant-and-who's-going-to-play-Renesmee-issue wouldn't be much of a problem after all. Oh well.. Maybe baby Bilrob is up for the part... These rumors are never going to end, are they?

Interview: Christopher Heyerdahl Reveals New Moon Details

Christopher Heyerdahl, who plays Volturi vampire Marcus, revelas details on New Moon in this new interview with SciFiWire.

Heyerdahl's character is a member of the Volturi, a venerable coven of vampires based in Volterra, Italy, whose members also include Michael Sheen and Dakota Fanning.

"He's one of the oldest vampires on the planet, and who doesn't want to play a 3,000-year-old vampire?" Heyerdahl said. "The cast that I get to work with, like Michael Sheen. ... We had so much fun goofing off together. It was an absolute hoot. Director Chris Weitz's version for this piece is like a Renaissance painting. The images were absolutely beautiful, and the character is such a tragic old fellow."
[...]Heyerdahl—who has worn extensive makeup and prosthetics for some of his roles —said that the makeup required in New Moon to transform him into one of the undead was easy by comparison.

"Yeah, they do their best to suck the life out of you, but certainly nothing compared to any of those past prosthetics," Heyerdahl said. "From that perspective, it was pretty easy. The looks they are getting in this film are absolutely fantastic. Everyone looks gorgeous and deliciously lifeless."

As said, the Twilight books are still topping the book charts in the US. Of course they are! I'm sure they're topping the best selling lists in a lot of other countries as well, but this specific article is on the American book charts. USA Today reports (three days ago):

Stephenie Meyer's vampires have eclipsed all comers on USA TODAY's Best-Selling Books list, while James Patterson's Swimsuit has its day in the sun.

Bright 'Twilight': Vampires won't let go. Just as they did in the first quarter, Stephenie Meyer's Twilight novels continued to dominate USA TODAY's Best-Selling Books list in the second quarter — selling in the same order as they did in the first three months of the year.

It's weird just how much you miss out on during only a couple of days without blogging. So since I don't have time (right now) to do ten different posts, I'm going to sum it up in one. Here are some new interviews with Kiowa Gordon, who plays Embry Call in NM, and Justin Chon, who plays Eric. Excerpts: Interview with Kiowa:

In the sequel [to Twilight], to be released in November, [Jacob] Black and four other Native American young
men emerge as werewolves.

Thousands of Native young men from the U.S. and Canada tried out for the four new roles. Gordon; Alex Meraz, Purepecha (Tarasco); Chaske Spencer, Lakota; and Bronson Pelletier, Cree-Metis, were fortunate enough to be cast.

According to Gordon, Embry Call is Jake’s right hand man, tall, skinny, shy and the fourth to turn into a werewolf. “We protect the tribe, protect them from vampires.” [...]

Within a couple of weeks word came he landed the part of Embry Call. “My mom got an e-mail. She was ecstatic.” After speaking to the director on the phone, he was off to Los Angeles for a “cyberscan.” It’s a technique used in many movies to create real-life animation. “A machine went around my body to create a computer image so I could be transformed into a werewolf.”

“When I went to Vancouver, the first person I met was Alex Meraz. During the first three weeks I hung out with the wolf pack. We worked with a personal trainer. I gained five pounds. We all bonded and became like brothers,” Gordon said. “I’m the smallest (physically) but I’m the tallest.” Gordon is 5 feet 11 inches tall.

Justin Chon: Of course. As an actor you're always trying to draw from real stuff to make it real, but I would say in acting terms, you use like substitutions and you think back to the moment. I just tried to make him as awkward as possible and just overly excited about everything.

We're celebrating our hundredth blog post by handing out Make Me a Vampire's 2009 Best Twilight Blog Award. (Okay, so this is our 94th post, but we like to start early). So, the award goes tooo... the one and only Twilight Moonlighter! Here's your award!

Twilight Moonlighter, also known as Pillow Biters, was kind enough to take some time off from her busy blogging schedule to let me interview her. So here we go:

First of all, congrats! For how long have you been a Twilight blogger, and what got you started/inspired to write a blog?

My first post was February 20, 2009- so I've been blogging for almost five months. This was my first post:

Three Reasons Why I Started This Blog:
* The Twilight DVD will be out in a month- eek!
* We need to start preparing NOW for the release of New Moon!
* No frickin' way. Eclipse will be released in June of 2010.
I have so many more things to do than to start this little blog. Working. Taking care of my kids. Being a responsible adult. But I don't have the strength to stay away from the Twilight Saga anymore. Damm Edward Cullen.

Why did I start? Well, I belong to an awesome Facebook group that a friend of mine started up for moms obsessed with Twilight. I found myself posting links to article constantly and decided that starting my own blog and linking back to that would be a much more productive way to harness my affliction.

Three words to describe your site:

snarky (though not as snarky as Twitarded)
newsy (though not as newsy as TwiCrack)
eye-candy (though not as beautiful as ROBsessed)
Take a diluted version of those three sites, shake them up, and you have my blog.

You have one of the top sites in the twilight fandom, with, according to 21 top Twilight blogs, an average of 4,000 visitors a day. Why do you think your blog have become so popular?

What- are you kidding me?! I do? Probably about 1/3 of those hits are mine. ;)

I have AMAZING readers- they're fun, snarky, whimsical, and all just as crazy about Twilight as I am. We all feed each other's addictions, and things that may not make it to the huge sites are often things that I think are pretty cool, which can be just as fun as the mainstream news.

How much time do you really spend on blogging?

Oh, if only ya'll knew.... WAY too much time. I have some new ventures as the Twilight Parents Examiner, Twilight Moonlighter at T5M and Hello! Magazine, and I'm still perfecting the art of juggling them all. But I have a surprise in store for the blog that will shake it up, so stay tuned! ;)

I'm on the computer by 8am, coffee in hand, and I take a few "mom" breaks here and there for breaking up fights, lunch, playing a game or two or reading to kids or swimming, fixing dinner, dinner and putting the kids to bed. Back on the computer by 8pm, usually until about 1am. Repeat. Except for the days that real life gets in the way and I'm off for hours. Then I get twitchy withdrawals. Thank goodness for my Blackberry.

If Robert Pattinson wasn’t playing Edward in Twilight (God forbid), would you still be ~~as obsessed~~ such a big fan?

HELL. NO. There's just something about Robert that is terribly addicting. I've never had a fangirl crush like I do on him. EVER. I think I'd still be obsessed with Twilight, though. There's something so endearing about the Cullen family, the storytelling ability of Stephenie Meyer, and the magnitude of the fan base, which I think would still be there were Pattinson not involved (heaven forbid).

When you’re not blogging, what keeps you busy?

Aside from some part time work as a freelance writer, my 3 kiddos and my hubby are my love and my life. That's part of the appeal of Twilight; for the first time in nine years, I have something that belongs to ME. My family is finally learning to deal with it.

Confess! Can you give us three confessions starting with, “Before Twilight, I…”

I don't remember life before Twilight. Seriously. But I'll try:
"Before Twilight, I was a responsible adult."
"Before Twilight, I kept up on the dishes and laundry."
"Before Twilight, I didn't sit and daydream."

I don't think I have "fans," just fellow readers who make me feel completely normal in my obsession. And for that, I'm extremely grateful. Because of them, I've learned to ignore my inner voice requesting that I commit myself to a "special place."

PF: We’re going to test our vampire baseball skills in front of a large crowd and I think a lot of people are going to find out that a lot of the cast member s don’t know how to throw a ball and they just made us look good. The Make-A-Wish Foundation asked if I would play and I thought it was for a really good cause. I like doing charity events because I think it’s important to give back.

RO: What do your girls think about Daddy getting recognized on the street?
PF: I think they’re getting used to it. It’s a little time consuming but I just try to give back to the fans. When I was growing up and I went over to the guy to get an autograph and he said no because they were too busy you would go home with that, so I try to really go out of my way to make sure that I’m good to the fans because they’ve been so good to us.

RO: What did you think about doing a vampire movie?
PF: When I got a phone call from my agent asking if I wanted to do a vampire movie I didn’t want to do it, so I read the book in a day and I fell in love with it.[...]

Thanks! I cut it to make my hair fit under the Alice wig properly. I didn't have to go quite so short but I figured it's the only time I would EVER do it. I'm a long hair girl... I've had long hair my whole life. It's cute short, but I'll grow it back out.
Who is your celebrity crush?

Hmmm......Love everyone from Kings of Leon....I've got a crush on the band as a whole. I maaaay have a crush on LiL Wayne and I'm pretty sure I've got a crush on Jackson Rathbone too.

Kellan Lutz talks about how it was working on the set of New Moon, how the twi-cast are all very close on as well as off set and where he sees himself in a ten years time in a new interview with Social Life. Excerpt:

What is your typical day like on the set of New Moon, the sequel to Twilight?

New Moon was a very relaxed film to work on and it all starts with how easy going director Chris Wietz is. That vibe rolls down to the crew and actors. It makes it so easy when we've all worked together before. Everything was so well organized, making it easy for the actors to do our job. We had more time to just laugh and make jokes and hang out; it's important to have a cast that gels the way we do and you'll see that more in the second film.

The entire cast of Twilight and New Moon has gone from Hollywood new faces to overnight international sensations – has that been a bonding experience for all of you?

It's amazing what Twilight has done for the cast! It has opened up so many doors for us all. It is such a blessing to be a part of the phenomenon that is Twilight. It's a dream come true! We are all very close and stay close on set as well as off. We play board games, go out to dinner and just hang out. It's amazing to be able to work with such a talented group of actors.

Where do you see yourself in five or ten years?

I'd like to continue acting for as long as possible. I truly love it and I am lucky that not only is it my career but it's something I really enjoy doing so it doesn't feel like work. Hopefully in ten years, I'll have an amazing family with a beautiful wife and little Kellan's running around to play football with.

Weekly Vampire Fashion: Bella's Shoes

We all know that Bella is well-known for her casual look. This also comes to show in Bella's choice of footwear. Shoes. Yes, more shoes. A couple of weeks ago, the WVF tip of the week was Converse. I've said it before, but I'm saying it again; I love Converse. I currently have four pairs myself, well, five actually, if you count in the pair I can no longer wear because they're just too worn out.

Back to business: Converse isn't the only shoes Kristella wears in Twilight. During the meadow and spider monkey scenes, Bella sports these shoes:Maybe it's just me, but I'm having a hard time figuring out if the shoes she's wearing are actually the same pair in both scenes, and what kind of shoes they are. So I'll leave you with two alternatives: black Vans or these grey slip-ons.

Thanks to newly released New Moon pictures, including this pic from the Bella's birthday scene, I'm also able to give you the details on exactly what kind of shoes Bella is wearing to her birthday party; they're called Vans Gisele in Black Turtledove Linen (that is one long name for a shoe, if you ask me):

With its cute, casual style, the Vans Gisele is easy on the eyes and on the sole. This mary-jane inspired style offers extra appeal with a ribbed toe bumper and double-stitched topline. An unobtrusive instep strap, fastened with Velcro, completes this comfort-loving look.

Anyway, I am fairly sure about this one, that these shoes are actually the exact pair Bella is wearing in New Moon. And I guess I'm not the only one who's figured this one out, because the shoes are currently sold out in every internet shop I've seen so far. Here they are:

Michael Welch dishes on Edward's part in NM

In this new interview with MTV, Michael Welch, playing Mike Newton in the movies, talks about how Edward actually will have a bigger part in the movie than he has in the book (is this great news, or what!?). Excerpt:

"They figured out a very clever way to get Edward back in the film much more than he is in the book," revealed "Twilight" series star Michael Welch when he stopped by the MTV studios recently, acknowledging that Weitz and screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg have devised a plan to work around the "New Moon" plot — which has Edward breaking up with Bella (Kristen Stewart) early in the story and fleeing to Italy. "It's more of, like, a hallucination kind of thing."

As any good Twilighter knows, Bella is heartbroken by their breakup but slowly begins dealing with her Edward-less existence through the realization that dangerous activities — motorcycle riding, cliff diving, etc. — cause her to hear the sexy vampire's voice in her head. Welch was fascinated by Stewart's pretend hallucinations on set and explained to us that Weitz intends to insert sequences of her seeing Edward as "New Moon" inches closer to its November 20 release date.
"It's tricky," he said of the filmmaker's dilemma. "I mean, [Edward] leaves for months."
"In the book, she just hears his voice," continued Welch, who plays rival Bella pursuer Mike Newton in the movies. "In the film, it's more of like a hallucination kind of thing. He will be [in the movie more than the book] for sure."

WTF Wednesday: Since When Did Edward Climb Trees?

Ever since I first saw Twilight, I've been wondering; since when did Edward start climbing trees? I'd really like to know. I cannot recall reading about Edward climbing a single tree in Twilight, and I've read it ~~like three thousand times~~ several times. We all know that a lot of stuff needed to be changed and cut to adapt this book into a movie, and we all have favorite scenes and lines that were left out. But that was all expected. It would have been impossible to get each scene from the book into a two hour movie.

What I did not expect though, was how our beloved Edward all of a sudden got new characteristcs added to his personality, like his prefrence for tree climbing. When I first saw the trailer, or a clip of it anyway, I didn't quite know how to react. Edward? In a tree? Should I be lauging? No, that hardly seemed appropriate. So I shrugged it off and thought, hell, Edward can bounce around like a frog and I'll still love him.

So don't get me wrong, I ♥ Twilight the movie, and the tree climbling scenes as well, but I would so much rather like to see an extended meadow scene or the completely left out blood typing scene than Edward jumping from treetop to treetop. Actually, flying is more what it looks like. Several of my friends (who haven't read the book but seen the movie) were like, "Um, why is the vampire flying? Is he really a bat or something?" And I'd be like, "No, no, see, he's just jumping" and they'd go, "Why is he jumping around in trees when he's a vampire, then? Oh, wait, is he trying to act like he's spider-man or something?" Jeeze. And I'd get all defensive and try my best at explaining that Edward Cullen is, in fact, not a spider-man-wannabe.

I would very much like to hear other people's view on this. I'm thinking the reason why the movie people (the screenwriter, director etc.) made Edward such an outstanding tree-jumper was to make him even more non-human like and mysterious (monkeys, though, aren't really that mysterious, are they? And I thought Edward was supposed to be more like a mountain lion when it came to animal comparisons.) When it comes to movie Edward, I'm thinking he climbs trees either because a) he likes the view, or b) because he can. You know, if I was able to climb a tree like that, I'd be sitting in a tree right now.

However, no matter the reason and how it actually does looks like they're flying (come on, it totally does) we all love it when Robward goes all dazzling and says, "You better hold on tight spider monkey," a line which he apparently picked himself. This brings us to my next question:

What in the name of Edward is a spider monkey? Is it just a cute nickname he made up? Yeah, yeah, I know, my animal skills aren't that great (when it comes to the tree-climbing kind anyway), but a quick search through Google confirmed that a spider monkey is actually a real species. From wikipedia:

Spider monkeys are among the largest New World monkeys, the largest spider monkeys have an average weight of 10.8 kg (24 lb) for males and 9.66 kg (21.3 lb) for females.Disproproportionately long, spindly limbs inspired the spider monkey's common name. Spider monkeys move through the trees, with one arm stride covering up to 12 m (40 feet). The hair is coarse, ranging in color from ruddy gold to brown and black; the hands and feet are usually black. Spider monkeys are diurnal and spend the night sleeping in carefully selected trees.

Okay, so yeah, maybe I can see how Edward would mistaken Bella for a spider monkey:
Little and fragile - check
Brown hair - check
Sleeps during the night - check (though not in trees)

But Edward, I wanna ask you something; if Bella's a spider monkey, that makes you a, what, orangutan?

[...] they are typically covered with long reddish-brown hair, instead of the brown or black hair typical of other great apes. [...] According to research, orangutans are the world's most intelligent animal other than humans [...]

This all seems kind of fitting, don't you think? Bronze hair and incrediably smart. Doesn't that sound like you, Edward? Totally does. Anyway, the spider monkey looks like this:

Twilight's Vampy Makeup Line

It was only a matter of time, wasn't it? The new Twilight Saga inspired makeup line by Cristina Bartolucci is most likely to be launched when New Moon hits theatres (the official launch date has not yet been announced), providing you with blood red lipsticks, Volturi mascara, Immortal Body Shimmer and other vampy makeup items. Stylelist.com got a sneak peak at the two collections, LunaTwilight and Volturi:

LunaTwilight is the more luxurious of the two offerings -- the packaging is heartbreakingly gorgeous and the formulas are more sophisticated than the alternate collection.

I hate to tease you with some of the the product names before they're available, but let's be honest, I can't help myself and you can't wait: "First Light Body Glow," "Mortal Glow Blushing Creme" and Color Palettes in "Bella," "Rosalie," "Alice" and "Victoria." (I can't wait to see "Alice" -- she was my favorite.)

Volturi, the other Twilight Beauty collection, will strike a chord with those who've read the book. The Volturi is the most feared and powerful coven of vampires, and that same dark, exciting sensibility can be felt in its products.

Several twi-cast members attended the 36th Vision Awards in Beverly Hills Saturday, where Twilight actually won the Film Of Vision Award. RadarOnline had the chance to interview Ashley Greene, Billy Burke and Christian Serratos. Ashley Greene dishes about fame, the ring on her finger and her new dog. Christian Serratos explains that dudes have got to step up their game now in comparison to Edward Cullen. From RadarOnline:

Looking beautiful in Dolce & Gabanna, Ashley Greene was sporting a ring on her wedding finger, but despite rumors of her recent romances, the beauty told us that it was Jasper's ring "I had it filming Twilight and I just kept it on." BLAST: So how was shooting in Vancouver different from Portland?

MW: Vancouver is one of my favorite cities, not only to film in but just to be in. I’ve shot a few different things over there over the past 10 years. I mean, Portland is great, there’s some great poetry and a great book store up there, but Vancouver, there’s just something about the way the city feels… That’s just the differences in the city, the differences in the films themselves, I mean, totally different. By the time “New Moon” rolled around, we tried to keep it as big a secret as we could [our locations], but it was impossible because all it took was one person to spot Rob or Taylor on the street and in 20 minutes there were hundreds of people there and there was paparazzi there and you know, it was just much more of an ordeal.
BLAST: If you had to pick a side, would you really be Team Mike, or choose between Edward and Jacob? Or are you contractually obligated like I’m guessing Kristen is to be ambiguous?
MW: I actually… between Edward and Team Jacob, I’m actually Team Jacob. I like Edward, but I… and I think it’s more of a gender thing more than anything else. I think Jacob represents more of a practical relationship, so I’d go Jacob -– but if there is a legitimate Team Mike that emerges, I will be happy to join it.

What Jackson looks for in a women

First off, let me just say that I really do try to only post news about the Twilight books and movies here. Because if I were to blog about all the crazy rumors, the paparazzi pictures and what all the actors are up to every day, I simply wouldn't have time for anything else than blogging. So I try not to do that, and only give you news that actually has something to do with either the books or the movies. That said, when I come across interviews like this one, which isn't at all Twi-related (the word 'Twilight' isn't even mentioned once throughout the whole thing), I have to make an exception.

In NY Beauty Examiner's interview, Jackson Rathbone talks about likes and dislikes when it comes to women and dating. As usual, here's an excerpt:

GC: Do you prefer women with makeup or natural?

JR: Natural, mostly, but I've been known to be extremely attracted to the punk rock look. Though sometimes, it's a little too much and you can't tell how a woman will look when she wakes up; it's really about whatever makeup makes her feel more like herself and more comfortable with who she is, not the other way around. In other words, a woman who defines her makeup and doesn't let the makeup define her.

GC: In your opinion, what do men really notice about women?

JR: The way she carries herself. Many times, my friends and I will notice a girl who is beautiful, but just looks miserable in her demeanor. It's a turn-off. Life's too short.

Oh, and while we're at it: Found the picture above at TwilightPoison the other day. See that tattoo there (click to enlarge)? On his hip? Here's what Jackson had to say about his "I'm lost..." tattoo in an interview with Inked Mag, from April this year:

INKED: Let's talk tattoos. How many do you have?

JACKSON RATHBONE: I only have one right now, but I definitely plan on getting more. My friends and I were kind of the bad kids in school, the troublemakers. We went to Interlochen Arts Academy, this really great boarding school in Michigan, and there were six of us who were always acting out against authority. The school administration was like, "Stay away from those boys-they're ‘Lost Boys,'" so that's what everyone called us. When I was 18, I got a tattoo that says, "I'm lost."

May I just take a moment to say that I am ~~falling in love~~ becoming a Jackson fan here? I am.

New Moon Movie Book Cover!

Finally some "real" twi-news: The new cover is out! ET gives us an exclusive look at the new New Moon movie tie-in book cover, and reports:

Attention Team Jacob: Little, Brown has revealed their cover for the movie tie-in edition of New Moon, which features an exclusive image from the Twilight Taylor Lautner fans should certainly pick up more than a few copies (Those arms! That smoldering stare! Remember, he's only 17!). As for Team Edward...well, at least the image proves that the moon is not, in fact, made of green cheese. franchise's second film.

Update: Twilight Lexicon tweets that this edition will be out in bookstores September 15:

According to a representative from Little Brown, the New Moon w/Kristen & Taylor on the cover book will hit shelves September 15, 2009

What do I think? Well, no matter what, I will always love the original covers the most, and I'll probably always feel more attached to the books than to any of the movies (I think. I'm pretty sure). I do like this cover though. What about you guys? Do you think this movie book cover is better than the last one?

Rachelle Lefevre Talks New Moon

Rachelle Lefevre talks New Moon, director change and how Rob is adjusting to fame in a new interview with 24 Hours Vancouver. Excerpt:

Usually when a film succeeds, a studio clings to its creator. But in the case of New Moon, Catherine Hardwicke is out, replaced by Chris Weitz.

“It could have been bad,” Lefevre admits. “But I think because Harry Potter went through it first to their benefit, we were like, ‘The Potter kids went through a director shift and they were okay, so we’ll be okay too.’

A third transition will happen later this year in Vancouver when another director, David Slade (30 Days of Night), takes the reins of the next sequel Eclipse.

“It’s perfect timing for David because Eclipse is darker than the other two. There’s more action. It’s not a horror movie, but it is darker.”

Rob Fandom Out of Hand?

Rob has been a heart throb since before his "Twilight" days, but since filming the first movie in the saga there seems to have been an upswing in the passion of his "followers".

Although most of the fans claim to be supporters of his acting, there are a select few that have taken this infatuation to another level. In another post we showed you the mob scene caused on the streets of New York City as Rob left the set of his new film "Remember Me", but there has been another incident reported as Rob was leaving a book store.

Apparently fans were approaching him and getting rowdy so his body guards hurried him across the street but as they did he was grazed by an on coming taxi cab. Pattinson stepped back stunned and I can only imagine the thoughts going through his head. One of his bodyguards turned around to the crowd of excited teens and shouted "Do you see what you've done? You've almost killed him!". As an inspired Rob supporter, I do not appreciate the die hard fans that almost seem insane ruining the name of all fans.

As Rob leaves the set of his new movie "Remember Me" he is accosted by a swarm of admiring, but overwhelming fans. In my opinion this is just taking things too far. His body guards had to hustle him two and a half blocks through Manhattan, poor guy. We all love and support Rob, but this is just wrong.
